Weeeeeeeeeeeeee

Shane just LOVES his new swingset out in the backyard. He's all over the thing! He's climbing and scaling parts of this thing that we thought he was a year or two away from doing! He's impressing the pants off us!!! He is a very determined little boy and wants to do things by himself without any help.

He even protests the "spotter" we place strategically behind him! I think his problem is that his "spotter" looks an awful lot like Daddy!

His Very First Ice Cream Cone

Shane HATES sweets - he just has zero interest . . . except for chocolate ice cream. Chocolate ice cream is his weakness - but ONLY chocolate!!! On Monday we figured we'd finish off our fun filled holiday weekend by letting him indulge in his favorite treat! This time, though, we switched it up on him! This time, we gave him an ice cream cone!

At first he had no idea what he was supposed to do with the thing. At first he wouldn't even take it from me! However, once he figured out that chocolate ice cream was involved, a huge smile spread across his face!!! He reached up, took the cone out of my hand and walked away smiling. I could almost just hear him thinking "I'll figure this thing out, I'll figure anything out for chocolate ice cream!"

And I do believe he would . . .

Uh-oh, messes already!

He's still so sweet looking, even with ice cream dripping down his chin!

All smiles!

From our trip to Coney Island on Sunday.

Coney Island

On Sunday we met GramZ and Grandpa at Coney Island for a few hours! We trekked out onto the beach, had lunch at the original Nathan's, walked the boardwalk a bit and rode the carousel - we had a fantastic time and we were all pretty wiped out by the time we got home later that afternoon!

Aunt Kate Graduates (Finally!)

To quote one of my all time favorite movies - "A lot of people go to college for 7 years . . . yeah, they're called doctors"! (As a side note, I'd love to be able to take credit for applying this line to Katelyn's collegiate career, but I must give credit where credit is due - thanks, Jay!)

After 7 LONG years, Katelyn has finally graduated from college with a Bachelors in Early Elementary Education. . . now she just has to find a job!

We all gathered together at Grandma's for a party on Saturday to mark the occassion. Nothing beats getting together with family and friends and having a reason to celebrate. The weather was beautiful (though a bit chilly with the wind) and we were all able to hang outside, catch up, play some ball and enjoy being together.

The rest of our weekend was really busy and we'll be blogging about that later in the week after I've had a chance to proof and process the pictures - so be sure to check back in a day or two!

Shane has been refusing to wear any shoes except for his sneakers lately. By the end of a day spent running around outside without shoes, this is what we were left with!

This One's For Aunt Trae

Aunt Trae has been looking for an update - and we're happy to finally be able to give her one!

We all came down with colds last weekend and have spent the week getting over them. I'm happy to say we're all just about back to our old selves and we're looking forward to the long holiday weekend we have ahead of us!

With all the germs floating around last weekend, we didn't do very much at all. On Saturday we cleaned out the fridge and went grocery shopping and on Sunday we loaded up the car with both dogs and Shane and we took a drive into a really quaint part of the state - very typically New England. I was reminded why I love living in CT so much!

We'll have to tons to blog about after this weekend is over! Until then - Happy Memorial Day!

Shane got a kick of having the fridge completely empty!

Eventually we decided we may as well put him to work!

Happy Mother's Day

We had a fantastic Mother's Day this year! GramZ and Grandpa came up from Long Island and Grandma, Aunt Kate and Uncle Jay came over. We spent the afternoon sitting and playing outside. Chris made lunch for everyone out on the grill and Aunt Kate made chocolate shakes (Shane's favorite) for everyone for dessert! It really was the perfect Sunday!

Playing with his trucks out on his picnic table:
LOVE this face!

Our little family:
After his grandmothers' found it so funny that he was splashing around in the dog's water bowls, I decided that it was suddenly warm enough to pull out the water table! He loves it as much this year as he did last year!

Enjoying his chocolate shake! Thanks, Aunt Kate!
Make that THOROUGHLY enjoying his chocolate shake!
Happy Mother's Day to all you mom's out there!
